College Heights Community Council - Monthly Meeting -Sheriff Eric Weaknecht spoke about what services his office provides.                 

-The Historic District committee reported that City Council will be considering adoption of a resolution supporting the Heights' application at their Feb. 14th meeting.

-A report was given on the status of the legal cases involving Orange Stones Co.

-A report was given regarding fundraising for the CHCC legal fund.

City of Reading Zoning Hearing Board re-heard case remanded to it by Judge Jeffrey K. Sprecher on Orange Stones' request for a permit to operate a business in the former Caum Home.

Request by Orange Stones Co. to Berks County Judge Jeffrey K. Sprecher First, Judge Sprecher permitted College Heights Community Council to intervene in this case. He then heard the request of Orange Stones Co. for a permit to begin operating at the Caum Home during the appeals process. After meeting in his chambers with all attorneys representing clients with standing in this case, Judge Sprecher denied Orange Stones' request under mandamus for a permit to operate a business in the former Caum Home. Judge Sprecher then remanded this case back to the City of Reading Zoning Hearing Board for it to be heard there within the next ninety days. Wednesday,11/03/2010

College Heights Community Council - Monthly Meeting Alex Brown, Principal of NE Middle School, reported on activities at that school. Additional discussion took place regarding topics affecting the future of our community. Sunday, 10/10/2010   Nativity Lutheran Church
City of Reading Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board heard an appeal from Orange Stones Co. regarding a denial  by the City Zoning Administrator. A decision by the Board will be rendered on 10/13/2010.

During the hearing, Elizabeth McGovern, attorney for College Heights Community Council, said that a deed restriction forbids a personal care facility in the city.
